The Samsung UE46B9000 has finally been announced, with a release date some time in the Autumn 2009. We recommend you hold off any HDTV purchases you were planning, until the B9000 range has been launched. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this one!
As yet the design for the Samsung B9000 range of HDTV’s has not been released (The HDTV above is not it, sorry). However, it has been confirmed that they will join the new “Touch of Colour” range. Pictures will be available as soon as possible, and it goes without saying that they will be stunning to look at.
Features are a little thin on the ground as yet, but confirmed so far, are the following.
Local LED Dimming
This is a huge enhancement on the previous ranges of Samsung LED TV’s which, in their own right, are superb, but won’t come close to the UE46B9000. Basically, Local LED Dimming means that there is a matrix of LED’s accross the whole of the screen, meaning that specific areas can be dark, while others can be light. The inclusion of an LED matrix will send contrast ratios through the roof, and provide the viewer with an incredible – Plasma beating picture.
External Media Box
Just like some of the Pioneer plasmas, and some Sony LCD TV’s, the UE46B9000 will feature a wireless external media box. Could this mean an even thinner frame we ask? We will just have to wait and see!
Medi@2.0
With the UE46B9000, you will be able to access various internet services, and by using “widgets” you can organise you favourates, and have then on screen while watching TV. You will also be able to connect your UE46B9000 to your wireless network, meaning the possibility of streaming media from you computers to the big screen!
Any idea in release date for this tv in the UK?
One month after Steve, the question remains quite the same: «Any idea in release date for this tv in some place?»
Why not after another month: When will it become available in Sweden (or in the UK if you happen to know that)?
Apologies for not responding sooner everyone. Everything has gone very quiet about Samsung’s new B9000 series TV’s. Rest assured that we’re constantly looking for new details as they emerge, and likeweise if you find anything, feel free to share here, to help everyone else out.
Hi there
I asked the danish samsung office about this tv, they replied that it is only going to be produced for the US marked and not i PAL version….
So we have to settle for the 8 series… sadly
Wow, that sounds horrible. Can admin please confirm this?
News is extremely thin on the ground at the moment, and Samsung are not giving much away. One thing I will say though, is Samsung have produced series 6, 7, and 8 TV’s. So if there is no 9 series, it would mean Samsung have decided not to produce TV’s for the UK anymore, or more likely, that the 9 series will be called something different for the UK and the rest of Europe.
It’s also unlikely that samsung will produce one model for the states, and then something completely different for the rest of the world. I think it’s more realistic that samsung are loving the sales produced from the 7 and 8 series tv’s in Europe so much, and competitors are far enough behind, that they are happy to let the 7 and 8 series tv’s run longer in europe than in the States.
I personaly think that we will see the Samsung ue46b9000 and the other b9000 tv’s at somepoint, but maybe not quite as soon as we would like.
Any more news on this yet from Samsung?… I’ve been holding off decorating my lounge for months in anticipation of a wireless TV… but now getting to the stage of considering of channelling cables through the wall. I’m wondering if they are experiencing problems with the wireless device?
